I don’t bake during Lent. (Well, except for matzo brittle, which doesn’t really count as baking–more as confectionary. I can justify anything!) Not because I’m religious, but because I like the sense of a seasonal pause. But the earth is warming, crocuses are coming up, and the chipmunk is busily expanding his burrows beneath my backyard. Time to get out the flour, butter, and eggs.
